What We Do

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system and the effects of these disorders on general health.

Chiropractic care is used to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints such as: back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs and headaches.

The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is the "spinal manipulation" or "chiropractic adjustment." The purpose of the procedure is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement.

Chiropractors practice non-invasive, drug-free, hands-on health care that includes examination, diagnosis and treatment of children and adults. Treatment may be ongoing, requiring the patient to make chiropractic visits until the body has healed.

Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.

Complementary to chiropractic are massage and reflexology therapy. The joining of chiropractic and massage and reflexology provides a full range of alternative health care designed specifically to support our patients total body healing and health.

Massage is an ancient method of working the soft tissues of the body to induce total relaxation. It promotes health and wellness and improves the functioning of the body's many systems.

Reflexology is a method of "laying of hands" to pressure points in the hands, feet, and even ears. By working the "energy zones" in these areas, a balance is created throughout the body's glands, organs and tissues. The result is a balancing of the total body's health. Circulation and muscle tone improve. Deep relaxation occurs, stamina improves, creativity and productivity increase and stress decreases.

At Versailles Chiropractic in Woodford County, Versailles, Kentucky, you can expect 100% total commitment to providing you quality care. If we are not able to address your current problem, we will refer you to someone who can.

Educational Requirements

Chiropractors are educated as primary contact health care practioners, with an emphasis on musculoskeletal diagnosis and treatment. Educational requirements for chiropractors are among the most stringent of any of the health care professions. After four years of undergraduate studies (including courses in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, psychology and related lab work), a person seeking a Doctor of Chiropractic degree must apply and be accepted into an accredited chiropractic college. Once accepted, he or she must complete another three to four years of professional study. Chiropractic is naturally a hands-on profession with intricate techniques. A lot of the student's time is spent in clinical training. In total, the chiropractic curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical experience. Chiropractic schools are accredited by an agency fully recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
